Aberdeen Climate Action was formed in 2014 and is a volunteer-run organisation that aims to inform and prompt action on climate change and sustainable practices in the North East of Scotland through awareness raising, education, campaigning, partnerships and support.

Aberdeen Community Energy is a multi-award winning Community Benefit Society, was set up in 2015 by the Donside Community Association (DCA) to build, own and operate the Donside Hydro Scheme on behalf of the community.

Our vision is to work with the communities of North East Scotland including schools/young people, to be global citizens who embrace social justice, fair trade, sustainable lifestyles and who promote sustainable international development that is environmentally and economically fair to all.

AUSA has the mission to support, empower and represent students of the University of Aberdeen. In 2019 the student body used AUSA to declare a climate emergency. Sustainability is one of our cross cutting themes which we try to involve in everything from activities to representation. We hope to be able to represent the student movements demand for climate action at the University and beyond, while developing our own operations to be sustainable and supporting student run sustainability initiatives. We represent all students wherever they are, but are based in Old Aberdeen where most of our initiatives take place. We want to join NESCAN as we believe this to be particularly relevant for our student groups and societies who are taking action on climate changer, and to build bridges.

Aboyne Climate Group brings together a community of people from Aboyne and the surrounding area that share a vision and an interest in our local climate and environment. We have put on a range of educative talks and invite everyone to get involved in local projects that enhance our area and provide resilience to climate change.

Maintaining, developing and promoting Mid Deeside's paths and tracks. 

Our mission is to raise awareness of climate and environment issues amongst the residents, businesses and visitors to Newburgh and environs (broadly the Foveran Community Council area), to take actions related to climate change adaptation/mitigation and environmental protection/enhancement, and to provide opportunities for the community to take action.

A green hub within a men's shed supporting low carbon heat, PV generation, allotments and polytunnels.

Our mission is to invest resouces in the sustainability, enhancement and wellbeing of the community of Ballater, Crathie and Dinnet (BCD). Our vision in the next 3-5 years is for the BCD community to be universally recognised as a sustainable, vibrant community, working together and becoming a 'go to' destination in which to live and work. Our focus areas are improving the natural surroundings, developing affordable social housing, developing community transport provision: developing recreational amenities and facilitating local groups to contribute within the above focus areas.

Banff, Macduff and District Men’s Shed’s journey began back in 2017 when a group of eight men began meeting in a room above the Railway Inn Banff. In 2018, the Shed set their sights on the former Fife Street School in Macduff – a large empty granite building that was up for sale. After a few hiccups and a pandemic in the way, the Shed gained access in September 2022 and signed a 99-year lease in March 2023.

The Shed’s varied activities include woodwork, gardening, machinery maintenance, computing, music group/band, snooker, table tennis, cards and board games, group debates, presenting shows on their local radio station and photography to name but a few. The Shed has also dedicated two rooms solely to let to community groups including Deveron Camera Club, puppy training classes, a street dance group, the Macduff Crafters and the North Aberdeenshire Integrated Drug and Alcohol Service Health and Social Care Partnership which holds weekly acupuncture classes for people suffering from addiction.

Bennachie Leisure Centre has been at the heart of Insch for 21 years, offering sport, health, social and educational welfare activities and services for all.

Our vibrant, multi purpose hub not only offers sport and fitness to suit all ages and abilities, but also hosts other events, parties and activities, such as Insch Movies, Fundraising Fun Days, Cooking Classes, Whist Drives and lots more. 

Our usual timetable consists of activities such as; Badminton, Yoga, Fit Kids, Fitness Classes, Indoor Cycling and Kid’s Holiday Camps.

Local, voluntary community organisation for men aged above 18.

Brighter Bucksburn is a voluntary group working with Bucksburn and Newhills Community Council to improve the area of Bucksburn. We have some 30 regular volunteers plus frequent assistance from school groups and others.

Circular Communities Scotland is the national intermediary for charities and social enterprises working on circular economy projects (reuse, repair, recycling, sharing libraries, repair cafes etc). Membership for small organisations with a turnover under £100k is free. We run a Reuse Furniture Consortium, a Share & Repair Network and a Bike Reuse Network.

Compass aims to demonstrate practical solutions for more healthy, sustainable lifestyles. The project will showcase and make accessible to the local and wider community:
o    sustainable building practices with conservation of the listed main building 
o    an integrated health and educational approach supported by the natural environment & built
o    sustainable social enterprise projects serving the local community
o    organic/biodynamic land use with nutritious food production, bee hives, wild flower meadow and woodland 
o    repair, reuse and recycle practices.
Our community garden, tended by our weekly and monthly volunteers, uses no dig beds to emphasise the reincorporation of carbon rich humus into the soil by micro and macro-organisms as a carbon sink while improving the soil structure and productivity.  Ultimately, we plan to have a zero-waste kitchen to provide training in preparation of the food grown on site.

Cove in Bloom aim to provide and maintain gardens, planters, planted areas, and hard landscaping for the benefit of the Cove and Altens area of Aberdeen city.  We aim to work as beneficially as possible, growing flowers on from seed, cuttings, and plug plants as well as working for sustainability with perennials.  We have approx 10 volunteers and no paid staff. pellentesque diam. Cove Woodland Trust was formed to purchase and maintain an area of approx. 16acres of land to retain for the benefit of the people and the wildlife of the area.  We have now owned Cove Community Woodland for over 5 years and have planted more than 4000 trees, developed a pre-school play area, added carved wooden figures, and held regular open days on the land.  We are presently improving the main path across the land to wheelchair and buggy accessible.  We have nearly 30 members including volunteers and board members.

We started up in March 2019 and cover Banchory and surrounding villages, including Torphins, Crathes, Strachan, Finzean, Kincardine O’Neil, etc. We focus on raising awareness and working on projects to minimise climate change, decrease biodiversity loss and reduce waste. We also want to increase our community's resilience to climate change through a robust and cohesive response.

Established in 2015, EAGerBunch started to build a garden at the new Ellon Academy Community Campus with a view to teaching and learning about horticulture, making an active vibrant space for activities, increasing biodiversity on site, growing edible produce and connecting with the community 

Earth & Worms is a community garden focused on empowering people within Aberdeen City. We aim to aid in forming strongly bonded communities by coming together to learn how to grow food and connect with nature in an accessible and sustainable manner. The community garden is open to volunteers throughout each week to use the space to unwind, or help work on various projects as well as planting, harvesting, and maintaining the space. Currently the garden has 147 members, with most of these members living in or around Tillydrone, Woodside, and Seaton. Our space is open to all abilities and backgrounds making our membership diverse and special.

The Foundation for Advancement of Child Education and Youth Empowerment (FACEYOUTH) is a grassroot inspired charitable organization committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and youths in Scotland and Overseas, through our various programmes and initiatives: poverty alleviation, promotion and support of quality education and wellbeing for the disadvantaged child, as well as promotion and provision of vocational and skills acquisition programmes for the empowerment of youths. 

For over 5 years, FACEYOUTH has been supporting individuals, families, and communities through our various projects - from empowering the vulnerable and the less privileged mainly children and young adults and their families by providing food, basic clothing and employment and other means of income generating opportunities, to awarding full scholarships to indigent students and hosting sessions on digital skills, career choices and Mental Health Awareness, with the aim to relieve disadvantage of any sorts and give people the opportunity to lead fulfilling lives.

Since attending COP26 in Glasgow, some of our young people that were involved with the climate change action plan, came back with a resolution to support the emergency declaration of 2019. FACEYOUTH is therefore committed to supporting, inspiring, encouraging and working with others to help achieve the target of net-zero carbon for the whole of black and ethnic minority community in Aberdeen.

Fresh Community Wellness SCIO is a registered charity, our aim is to improve the health and wellbeing of the Seaton and Linksfield Area by using a range of activities to gain improve the area. We run a community Garden Seaton Neighbourhood United Garden (SNUG), a Parent & Toddler Group, Pocket gardens throughout  Seaton, A New Men's Mental Health Music Chat Group, Ladies Craft group. 

The FoSP are a registered charity comprised of volunteer board members who are dedicated to the enhancement and development of one of Aberdeen's best loved green spaces. 

St Fittick's Community Park is the last freely accessible green-space in Torry, Aberdeen. As Friends of St Fittick's Park, we are fighting to save the park for our local community. We want to protect and enhance the great wildlife of the park. We are fighting against any attempts to take the park away from the people of Torry.

Friends of Sunnybank Park manage Sunnybank Park, a community-run park in the Sunnybank area of Aberdeen. The park has allotments, a wallspot wall, outdoor gym equipment, and is maintained by volunteers.  

Our group aims to improve and enhance our local park and encourage the local community to join us in this. Most of the volunteer sessions and public events we hold usually involve climate change in one way or another whether its reusing redundant materials, educating the local children and/or planting wildflower areas. We have a much improved park and want to build on this so it's enjoyed both now in our lifetime and for the generations to come.

Grampian Opportunities aims to open up community, learning, volunteering and employment opportunities for people with disabilities, mental health or long term conditions. Providing information, promoting wellbeing, offering volunteering opportunities, learning activities, Employability programmes, Peer support and mentoring.

We are a community-based organisation established in 2012 , with around 60 regularly receiving information and contributing to our work. . The overarching aim of the organisation is the advancement of environmental protection and improvement in the Kemnay area. In furtherance of this we aim to: 1. Promote the green agenda within the Kemnay area 2. Support access to the local path network 3. Support local growing opportunities and promote community composting schemes 4. Promote sustainable energy and development

We are trying to restart post pandemic, having just started a year or so before that. We have a constitution and recently held an AGM.

We are a very varied group - all concerned about climate change and wanting to take action.

We are a Community Benefit Society registered with the Financial Conduct Authority established in 2018 to take advantage of the offer of utilising the waste residual heat from the proposed Energy From Wate plant on the site of the former Inverurie Papermill. We will use this heat to deliver clean, safe, affordable, low carbon heat to the adjacent community of Garioch, by means of a district heating network.

Inverurie Climate Action Cafe was born out of a Climate Action Festival which was held in Inverurie in October 2022. 
Based in the town of Inverurie we have four active members at the moment ( and a mailing list of 25) but are hoping this will increase as we hold Climate Action Cafe events throughout the coming year.
Our aim is to raise awareness, educate and inform the local community about the issues facing our planet and involve residents in taking action to make our town more resilient and carbon neutral in the future.

Situated at the heart of Kingswells and Webster Park on the outskirts, on the way to Bucksburn, the main centre holds a large sports hall and coffee shop which provides a large schedule of activities and events. Webster Park is a smaller studio facilities, but has a large outdoor football pitch and multi-use games area.

As well as the schedule of activities, we are proud to provide a wide range of services and events tailored to our community's needs and to help in today's climate. 

Magpie is a social enterprise-based project being delivered by Aberdeenshire Voluntary Action with two distinct social purposes:
To support families in crisis by donating goods which will enable them to set up a new home. This might include families facing financial crisis, or women and children fleeing from domestic violence. 
To support the Net Zero agenda, by diverting goods from landfill and selling them through our shop, whilst promoting the importance of a reduce, reuse, recycle culture. 
In the last 6 months, we have donated good ranging from sofas, beds and wardrobes to cutlery, crockery, and small electrical goods (PAT tested) to 17 families who have found themselves in crisis situations across the south of Aberdeenshire. During the last 12 months, we estimate that c.10,000 people have visited the Magpie shops at the Tillybrake Industrial Estate in Banchory, with 20,507 items being sold which might otherwise have been sent to landfill. Additionally, all items that we sell are donated to us by the general public, and any money raised from the sale of goods supports the Magpie operation, allowing us to gift more items to those who are in need. We also work in partnership with a foodbank to deliver parcels to families in need. 
Magpie (Previously The Box Room) has be around for over 20 years, helping reduce items from landfill, reuse and gifting. We are hoping to continue reducing our  caron footprint through potential community projects. 
Magpie covers Aberdeenhire South, although we do occasionally cover City and North.

The Group was constituted Sept. 2002. The purpose of the Group is to coordinate, facilitate, introduce, and raise funds for additional amenities in the town of Meldrum (Formartine) with a view to enhancing and enriching the environment of the town and the life of the residents. We have two main projects, to provide and maintain an extensive floral display each year and to provide and maintain the Christmas festive illuminations. In addition, we assist with the development and maintenance of the William Forsyth Community Garden. The Group also financed, constructed, and maintain the Meldrum Petanque Club. We also undertook to provide and facilitate illuminating the town’s War Memorial. More recently the Group financed and established the Oldmeldrum Chapter “Cycling Without Age” a project for the elderly and those with limited mobility to get out and about. The Group also organises and manages the Community litter picks with the next scheduled event planned for 15th. April. In keeping with Aberdeenshire Council’s Sustainability Charter Action Programme, the group has dispensed with their diesel tractor and petrol water bowser and replaced them with a Utility Electric Vehicle which also provides an electric pump for carrying out the watering duties. Our carbon footprint was further reduced by installing Solar Panels for energising the EV and also providing solar energy for our 4 electric propagation beds. At the end of each season all compost from the floral containers is recycled over our vibrating riddle for the following years’ planters. The group also saves plants such as Begonias and others for storing and planting the following year.   

The organisation was set up in January 2021 as a response to a demand for allotment space and community gardens for residents of Newmachar, Kingseat and the local surrounding area, with a focus on food security for all. We are also working with Aberdeenshire Council Greenspace department, currently planning to plant native wild trees, fruit trees and bushes as well as bulbs and wild flowers on specified council-owned land within Newmachar village. We are converting an under-used community garden alongside the footpath to Kingseat to an orchard, with 8 apple trees planted so far.
We have recently agreed with the owners of a local guest house to convert their disused paddock into a vegetable garden to our mutual benefit.  Volunteers from our group can grow food and in return supply a portion to the house, with the surplus available to the community. In addition, we will sow a wildflower border to support pollinators. Although not officially allotments, this constitutes a valuable growing space for the community – a promising start towards our ambition. 
We currently have over 30 official applicants for growing space, and are still working on finding land for permanent allotments. There is a national shortage and all current council plots are oversubscribed.

The North East Scotland Mammal Network is a group of enthusiasts recording and raising awareness of the amazing variety of mammals of the area, from shrews to dolphins, in order to protect their future. 

We are a registered charity in Scotland managed a lease space to offer activities and support services to meet local/community needs. The environment is a significant issue and we do seek to adopt environmental friendly practices on how we operate

We are a community growing initiative with the aim to encourage people of all ages to grow their own food, share knowledge and excess produce with others in the community and to eat seasonally and healthily.

We are the environmental charity for dog owners- we encourage dog owners to pick up a few pieces of litter on walks to protect animals, communities & the environment. We also educate on the consequences of littering. We started in Stonehaven where we have 400 members. We now have 23,000 across social media across Aberdeenshire, the UK & worldwide.

We are a registered charity and were established in 1993. Our objectives are to integrate Polish community living in the UK; to create and strengthen a positive image of the Polish Community; the advancement of democratic freedom, human rights, tolerance and the rights of ethnic minorities; to undertaking actions towards communication and cooperation with other communities creating European Open Society; to influence cultural and social life of the Polish Community in Scotland; to promote educational and pedagogical activities; to undertake actions towards the protection and promotion of health and to promote and organise a voluntary sector. We provide various and diverse services for our community and hopefully this membership will help us with our ideas of getting community in cycling and healthy living activities. We basically cover the whole Aberdeen.

Printfield Community Project began in 1989 and was set up as an economic development project. Printfield offers a variety of support and services to those in the Printfield area such as an After School club hosted at Woodside Community Centre, Monday to Friday 3-6:00pm. They have Youth Services group for young people between the ages of 5 and 16 years old on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays alongside play schemes in the school holidays.

They have a creche for children too young to attend nursery Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings 9.15 – 11.15 and a Foodbank and Delivery service on Monday and Friday mornings. Alongside their robust timetable they offer drop-in support for anyone in the area, a charity shop run by volunteers alongside a Reiki Master who comes every second Thursday 11:30 – 15:30 and offers complementary therapies such as Indian Head massage, Reiki, and Reflexology for £2.

Through our work at Scarf we will contribute to the growth of cleaner, greener and more efficient communities. Through networking and developing relationships with partners we will work together to get the job done. Our original aim of eradicating fuel poverty hinges on the improved energy efficiency of local homes which in turn reduces carbon produced. Over recent years Scarf has become involved in ensuring a Just Transition towards Net Zero for all householders in the NE.

Slains Environmental Action for Change (SEAchange) was established in 2018 to promote environmental protection by providing information and by demonstrating ways to help reduce climate change, and promote art and local heritage through encouraging enjoyment of art and music and by preserving our heritage.

The Community Council in Collieston and Slains is an amalgamation of the former Amenities Committee and a Community Council - in other words we are involved in everything that happens in the local community. We are very active in promoting and delivering local events and facilities but are also keen to work toward better sustainable resources and buildings for the future. In particular we want to improve our local community centre, inform our community on how to make old houses more heat efficient and to investigate travel options such as ebikes. 

St Machar Community Biodiversity Project aims to make the kirkyard of Oldmachar more attractive to visitors and wildlife alike. To increase the kirkyard biodiversity with a sustainable management system, to enable people to have creative experiences with the benefits of being outside and interpret family stories and increasing awareness of the local built heritage. 

St. Machar Academy Parent Council mission and purpose is to engage with the community of the school parents/ guardians within the catchment area and a wider local community of Aberdeen for the benefits of the school pupils. Also to support the school in delivering high quality learning. Currently approx. 20 active parents, the council is open to every school parent/guardian.

"Our aim is to help farmers and crofters to shift out of environmentally burdensome livestock agriculture into fairer, greener livelihoods that boost rural economies, mitigate climate change, support biodiversity, improve food security and food self-sufficiency, and enhance the health and wellbeing of people and animals.
We have been involved in climate change for 3-4 years.  We cover the whole of Scotland and the rest of the UK."

People in or near Ellon doing what we can to help make Ellon a sustainable place for people and planet.

We are a new group based in the Mearns area (South Aberdeenshire and a bit of North Angus). We are looking at ways to build community and climate resilience. The first meeting was held November 2022 and we are just getting individual working groups started to look at food, energy, transport, awareness and education, waste and the wider political context. We feel networking and drawing on the experience of others doing similar work is vital in keeping momentum and maximising impact.

We are an informal collective of climate-conscious people who live in the Howe of Cromar. We aim to be inclusive, have established links with similar groups in Aberdeenshire, and welcome new insights and contributions.

The organisation’s purpose is the advancement of community development and in particular, promotion of the arts, culture, heritage, environmental enhancement and protection, and the provision of recreational activities: all within the Parish of Tarland and the Howe of Cromar in the Marr area of Aberdeenshire. Resilience and adaptation to climate change is relevant to many of our projects.

Run by our dedicated workers and volunteers and governed by our board we provide a diverse portfolio of community led projects and programs that benefit our community including community wellbeing, community fridge, and more.

The Banff Vinery, managed by Aberdeen Foyer is a community space that will provide opportunities for children, young people and families to take part in valuable health and wellbeing activities. In addition, we have our own green team - The Foyer Green Team

The Mixing Bowl Aberdeen is a local community group with the aim of sharing our passion for good food.  We offer cooking workshop in the community and we run the Deeside Food Hub selling local produce.  Through the Deeside Food Hub we are promoting locally grown, sustainable food.   As well as selling local food produced in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, we also support food tourism by telling the food stories of our region.

The Secret Garden Society aims to use the space for growing our own vegetables and fruit sustainably, but also teach our members how to grow them and how to cook them (vegan recipes with seasonal ingredients). It's a great place to learn about gardening and get in contact with nature. We host weekly gardening sessions as well as many other events in which we promote sustainability as a lifestyle.

We are the statutory group for Tillydrone & we are very keen to get involved with making the right changes/choices within our community in regards to climate change.

We are a school in Aberdeenshire, that is aiming to make our school ground more environmental and nature friendly. We want to have a whole school activity day, including planting seeds to make the playground come to life. An eco committee of 8 and a school with 450 pupils.

The school is a new build, so we want to encourage wildlife to make it their home, and a more biodiverse environment. That will enthuse the pupils to partake further in climate action and care for the environment.

We are a group established in 2018 to 'support carbon reduction and other initiatives to tackle climate change'.
