The Forge – Banff, a Community Interest Company founded in December last year, aims to become a thriving Community Arts Hub with a mission to offer wide range of activities, classes, and events that cater to the entire community.
Their vision is to infuse the town with a lively spirit and provide a welcoming space where everyone can come together to enjoy and learn. The Forge joined NESCAN in June and has been fortunate to receive funding from the Aberdeenshire Two Towns Grant. The £5,000 grant has been instrumental in several key developments: Site Security. The grant allowed them to purchase a gate, securing the site for the first time since ownership. They've built planters that are being transformed into a community garden and constructed a shelter that enables them to host outdoor activities. These developments have already had a positive impact, allowing them to run several outdoor-based activities over the summer, free of charge. John, from The Forge says that this initial burst of activity is not just a service but also a promotional tool to raise awareness and get the community engaged.
